  • Dear Baba Lovers,

Amartithi, meaning “Eternal Date,” marks the day when Meher Baba dropped his physical form on January 31, 1969. Each year, thousands of Baba lovers from across the world gather at Meherabad, India, to honor his divine presence and the eternal nature of his work.

Unlike traditional commemorations of passing, Amartithi is not a day of mourning but one of remembrance, love, and devotion. It is a time when followers reflect on Baba’s teachings, his universal message of love, truth, and spiritual awakening, and his silent yet profound impact on humanity.

The annual Amartithi gathering at Meherabad has been observed for over five decades with love-filled devotion. The event spans three days, culminating in the Silence Observance from 12:00 noon to 12:15 p.m. on January 31, honoring Baba’s lifelong silence.

Key highlights of Amartithi include the Silence Observance, devotional music and bhajans, readings from Baba’s messages, film screenings, and talks on Meher Baba’s life. Followers from across the world participate, not as a ritual, but as a spontaneous outpouring of love for Meher Baba, celebrating his presence in their lives.

Meher Baba taught that love is the only reality and that the goal of human life is to realize God through love, truth, and selfless service. His silence for 44 years was a powerful statement that true knowledge is beyond words.

One of his most well-known quotes is:
“I am never silent. I speak eternally. The voice that is heard deep within the soul is My voice.”

Amartithi serves as a reminder that while Baba left his physical form, his presence continues eternally in the hearts of his lovers.

Meher Baba assured his followers that he is always with them, guiding them on their spiritual journey. Amartithi is not about grief but about joyful remembrance—a celebration of the love that binds every heart to the Divine.

As Meher Baba declared: “Don’t worry. Be happy.”

May we all continue to feel his presence, not just on Amartithi but every day, in our hearts and in our lives.

    With warm regards,
