Sheriar Foundation is an independent, non-profit, tax-exempt foundation formed in 1989. The purpose of Sheriar Foundation is to broaden awareness and deepen the appreciation of the spiritual values exemplified in the life and writings of Meher Baba. It is dedicated to exploring dynamic ways of bringing the restorative power of divine love more fully into people’s lives. In addition to supporting the bookstore, Sheriar Books, Sheriar Foundation has published more than twenty books by and about Meher Baba, including Discourses, Infinite Intelligence and The Everything and The Nothing. Sheriar Foundation has also been instrumental in making rare footage of Meher Baba available to the public. This includes Paramount and MovieTone footage of Baba shot in 1932, and Beyond Words, rare footage of Baba taken in 1967. Sheriar Foundation’s archival program is primarily focussed on the preservation of audio recordings, video and film.
SHERIAR BOOKS
Sheriar Books started in 1971 as a bookshelf in an alcove of Sheriar Press, a fledgling printing company in North Myrtle Beach, SC. The commercial printing company supported the bookstore for 29 years allowing it to grow into a source of books by and about Meher Baba much appreciated by people throughout the US, Europe and Asia. In November 2000, Sheriar Books was brought into the fold of Sheriar Foundation’s work. This encompassed the running of the retail bookstore, the filling of wholesale and retail book orders and all efforts to increase the distribution and awareness of books by and about Meher Baba. In 2002 Sheriar Books developed its first website and entered the vast online world. Since then people from over 90 countries have visited the online bookstore, and orders have been received from 30 countries and almost all 50 states. This website is made possible through the support of Sheriar Foundation.
