Most of the Baba community first became aware of Steve’s paintings of Meher Baba with his illustrations in 2 books for Baba’s sister, Mani S. Irani and then a cook book for Meherazad resident mandali, Katie Irani. Steve produces his paintings in his art studio; which is a 5 minutes drive north of the Meher Baba Spiritual Center in North Myrtle Beach, SC.

.. Each of the paintings of Beloved Avatar Meher Baba began with a single scanned photograph of his image which was then colored and handpainted in Photoshop. In some cases, as many as 9 photographs have been combined to create a piece of art. Please keep in mind that the paintings you will see are only as good as your computer screen will allow.

I have made these computer generated paintings into cards which are mounted on different colored mattes on white or cream linen cardstock with matching envelopes. I choose the color of cardstock for each card which I feel works best to enhance Baba’s image.

Meher Baba Cards

.. The majority of Charlie’s portraits of Meher Baba, His Mandali, and landscapes of favorite settings with significance to Meher Baba, are in private collections across the United States, Canada, Mexico, India, and Europe. Many paintings that have found their home in these private collections are not widely known. Because of this, Charlie is organizing a collection of 50 of these works, as well as some of his well known original paintings, and making them available as fine art Giclée prints.

With the recent launch of a new online Giclée Gallery, visitors are able to view part of the collection of 50 available. More will be added to the online gallery during the coming year. You may view the full collection of paintings available as Giclée prints at Charlie’s newly completed studio, conveniently located behind his home in North Myrtle Beach. Studio Visits are always welcome, so when you are in the area, call for an appointment to view his latest original work and the full collection of paintings now available as Giclée prints.

Joe is a self-taught artist. Even when working from photographs, he paints outdoors near his home in Clearwater, Florida. He enjoys the feeling of expansiveness that comes from painting outside, and the natural daylight helps him to remember that special Meher Baba light he strives to capture in his artwork. He is currently working on a series called “Samadhi abstracts”. In these he wants to convey the powerful, invisible energy he imagines radiates down into the earth and up into the sky beneath and above Baba’s Tomb, as if the Tomb is transmitting powerful currents of divine energy into the whole planet from below and above.

In addition to the landscapes and abstracts, he will also soon be adding a series of paintings called “Still Lifes with Baba”. These will be still lifes with fruit, flowers, wines bottles, etc. and each will have a framed photo of Baba on the table. Why a painting of a framed photo, why not just paint Baba? Joe says he wants to paint the intimate ways we bring Baba into our homes–our kitchen, our bedrooms, our living rooms. In other words, the photos of the Beloved within the context of our everyday lives.
